V1, V2 Septal Left Coronary Artery (LCA)

V3, V4 Anterior Left Anterior Descending (LAD)

The patient who sustains an anterior MI and found to have a

high proximal lesion, usually has a poor outcome. A large

portion of the anterior wall of the left ventricle is affected,

thus causing pump failure. High proximal occlusion of the

left coronary artery has become known as the “widowmaker”.

The size of the MI is determined by how proximal the occlusion

is and the extent of collateral circulation to the ischemic area.

ALWAYS REMEMBER: “Time is muscle”…minutes count when

it comes to saving as much heart muscle as possible.

Make it your goal to have the shortest “door-to-balloon”

time possible.
